Hey, I'm about to buy a set of AT Ski gear, and will be looking to driving to CO from Texas. I can ski a hard blue decently and was looking for a mountain to hit up for a first time AT ski ascent/decent. Just wanted to know if anyone else who was new and wanted to get together to learn a bit and play around.
Info, conditions and gear related to skiing or riding Colorado Peaks, including the 14ers!

It's not really a mountain, but you could certainly get some practice skinning and skiing up the trail to Butler Gulch or Jones Pass near the Henderson Mine off hwy 40 above Empire. The Butler Gulch side is closed to vehicle traffic while the Jones Pass side seems a good bit of snowmobile and snowcat use. Both are nice places to test out the equipment before you start going after any peaks.
Where ever you are... There you are.
