Centennial list usually uses the list of 58 14ers but treats it as 53 so Dallas is the last Cent no matter if N Marion is ranked or not. Or that’s what I did…

I actually might hold it so North Maroon is my Highest 700 finisher, we'll see how the Wemi trips go next year.Tornadoman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:10 amI think it would be awesome to finish the ranked 13ers, and then go back for the last ranked 14er.Chicago Transplant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 8:50 am El Diente was already analyzed and shows 264' prominence on LiDAR. Seems the map makers did a better job.
I stand by my decision to prioritize new 13ers the for the last decade plus rather than going back to get North Maroon. I was stormed off it in 2007 and figured I would eventually go back but just had far higher priorities than having people kick rocks on me. I might still try and re-finish the 13ers before I go get it, that would be a pretty Mike thing to do

No... If you counted unranked 14ers as part of the centennials then Dallas would not be part of the centennials. The only reason it would still be a centennial is in the case of Challenger being unranked. Assuming Challenger remains ranked we will have 54 14ers and 13811 will be the new #100

Re: North Maroon is Ranked
That's correct, the Centennial list is the top 100 ranked peaks. There is a lot to be sorted out with Dallas beyond just the Challenger question. A lot of the peak elevations have been changing by several feet with the new LIDAR data. The new data could easily end up showing that Dallas is higher than PT 13,811. Or the data could show that Niagara or American are actually higher than Dallas. It's fun to watch the progress on this.Salient wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:26 amNo... Re: North Maroon is Ranked
North Maroon has always been a 14er. And Challenger Point (and Cameron, N Eolus, and Conundrum) have never been 14ers.

Now that I am becoming more knowledgeable on this. Why are unranked peaks counted? I get the logic for counting soft ranked peaks but what's the rationale in counting unranked peaks?Salient wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:26 amNo... The 5 additional in the 58 list have official USGS names.CheapCigarMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:52 amNow that I am becoming more knowledgeable on this. Why are unranked peaks counted? Re: North Maroon is Ranked
Unranked peaks don't count toward the centennials, bicentennials, all 13ers, etc. However, the CMC includes North Maroon and El Diente as 14ers due to tradition, and on 14ers.com many people include Conundrum, North Eolus, and Cameron as well.CheapCigarMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 9:52 amNow that I am becoming more knowledgeable on this. Guess I'm with rijaca on this one. Tradition and a USGS name shouldn't make a bump into a mountain. Even if you don't like the 300' rule and feel it's arbitrary you still have to have some type of standard. Otherwise, every bump would be a mountain. Not every person should get a trophy.

Re: North Maroon is Ranked
Agreed. Whether or not a peak is named should have no bearing on whether or not a peak qualifies as a peak. Other wise Cameron is a peak while the Gore Range has almost no peaks.CheapCigarMan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 10:39 am Guess I'm with rijaca on this one.
