SKT

Post by JulianSmith »

What is the slowest know time for completing all the 14-ers?

Me, I've been working on them since '98, and I still ain't finished yet...

My 14-er skiing attempt has been going on for about that long too.

I got this thing if I just try hard enough...

I think this might be my favorite post of all time. I am only interested in hearing about slowest known times from this point forward. (I have been known to count steps up high peaks before relieving myself to breath, it is likely I hold a few SKT's)

I don't know who has the SKT for the 14ers, but I'm fairly sure I have the record for SKT for the tricentennials: Fairchild Mtn. (13,502') on July 1, 1970 to V 10 (13,475') on August 22, 2019, which is over 49 years.

There should be an award for "Person Who Tried All the 14ers and Never Summitted Any of Them". Or maybe the "Drove to the TH and Never Got Out of the Car" award.

I like the idea of slow 14er times, but you do something while summiting. Like you roll a peanut up the mountain with your nose. Or read out loud (not recite!) Moby Dick.

There was a guy who climbed them all while solving the Rubik's Cube.

2001 for me and I still have six left.

At least I'm doing better than I am with the Utah 13ers. I started those in 1987 and still have two left.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

I look forward to your one and only trip report when you finally summit San Luis in 2050 demolishing Mike Johnson's 49 year 3 month SKT.

1989 for me. I lost interest in the early 90's, the Sawatch rock piles did it. No plans to finish.
