S. Maroon via Fravert Basin
Anyone know if it's possible to link up with the standard route at the top of the slope of suck (or greatness... depending on your perspective)? My group is considering packing into Fravert Basin and summitting either this way or via the SW Face. There aren't too many reports of this area though, so any insight would be appreciated.

I see skiers reports on that but can’t remember a hiking one.
Snow alien and doumal both have skiing reports from that side

Possible sure...trail...no.
I've climbed and scouted a few lines up the direct West faces of North Maroon/Maroon and the whole thing is a complex maze of class 3-5 s**t rock. So depends on what you're looking for, your skill set and your tolerance for that stuff. One could easily get into trouble without good route finding/navigation on that face (in summer conditions).

Sure is purdy from that side. Post a TR if you decide to take on that adventure.
Re: S. Maroon via Fravert Basin
We skinned all the way up to the ridge that separates Maroon and Belleview, closer to Belleview, so that part is actually pretty straightforward. Whether or not it's easy going from there until meeting up with the summer trail, I don't know.

Thanks all for the info. It's looking like our group won't be going that way for now. Still researching though.

Summit Post has some info. I think it is only 3rd/ 4th class if your route finding is good (lucky).Loose rock has always been a treacherous element of this climb. I've wanted to go back and do this since 1965 but it may not happen.
