Agreed. There were plenty of press releases when the closure started, and a big metal sign on the road saying that the peaks are closed. The sign was removed by someone on or just before June 18. Even the CFI seems confused. A communication mess for sure.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Seems like blowing smoke to the effect of limiting crowds and trash on the peaks vs a full 100% closure, which is impractical to enforce. Part of the trend of restricted access and parking reservations on popular public lands.
