The Alpine Treeline Feline is real, cats are great climbers and some like to follow people

I'm picturing a big bushy cat with smooshed face and long whiskers that goes by the name "Mr. Sneffels."

If that’s a thumb at upper left, (literally a thumbnail pic?), the print is way too small and narrow to be a cat imo.

Thanks so much, everyone! Great info all around.

Maybe the next “14er first” should be: first person to walk his/her cat to the summit of all 14ers on a leash. 😂

I think it's a dog print. I think it's too narrow to be a cat as well. But with freezing/thawing, etc it's hard to be sure.

definitely not a cat. even a juvenile would have bigger prints than that.

Sneffelsupagus would be a good name for a particularly large and mysterious animal.

Sadly, my hiking cat passed in December. I think she had 7 peaks.

I have photographic evidence of a cat on Missouri. I wasn't there for this so I had to borrow the photo from my friend's FB page. From what I was told the cat hiked some of the last stretch but was carried in a pack most of the way.

I have heard of multiple cats that like backpacking and getting outside and going on trips with their owners. It is very uncommon but some cats are just like this.
