The Alpine Treeline Feline is real, cats are great climbers and some like to follow people

I'm picturing a big bushy cat with smooshed face and long whiskers that goes by the name "Mr. Sneffels."

If that’s a thumb at upper left, (literally a thumbnail pic?), the print is way too small and narrow to be a cat imo.

Thanks so much, everyone! Great info all around.
Maybe the next “14er first” should be: first person to walk his/her cat to the summit of all 14ers on a leash.

I think it's a dog print. I think it's too narrow to be a cat as well. But with freezing/thawing, etc it's hard to be sure.

definitely not a cat. even a juvenile would have bigger prints than that.

Sneffelsupagus would be a good name for a particularly large and mysterious animal.

I have photographic evidence of a cat on Missouri. I wasn't there for this so I had to borrow the photo from my friend's FB page. From what I was told the cat hiked some of the last stretch but was carried in a pack most of the way.

I have heard of multiple cats that like backpacking and getting outside and going on trips with their owners. It is very uncommon but some cats are just like this.Jon Frohlich wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 2:40 pmI have photographic evidence of a cat on Missouri.
