Well, in 2011 we finally got UBL, so that much is true.
But the Arab Spring and Gadhafi's death didn't pan out as intended.
There was also the Norway shooting and a royal wedding, so plenty of bad things in 2011.

PS, Just because I have an early join date and high post count doesn't mean I'm an ornery old fart. I started when the community was small and this site was new, but the tale of my first 14er experience would surely endure plenty of snark. Its a pretty funny tale, including me getting spooked by a dog I thought was a bear while in my tent. Of course I packed in to climb Grays and Torreys, and from Chihuahua Gulch no less because I figured I had skied in Keystone so that must be the right way. I didn't know what Stevens Gulch even was. I also remember packing-in in a storm and wondering where it came from, (didn't know "monsoon" was a thing). You want admonishment, my first snow climb a year later I didn't have an axe, or crampons. I just booted up someone else's boot pack. (not sure I even had poles?) But I guess I turned out okay eventually.

We all were noobs, no need to beat on anyone.

It's ok to be a crotchety old fart, I resemble that. I've stopped posting though cause like you elude to, just to much negativity in response and too much of the politics leaching in on all sides. I've gathered the info I need in the past and just enjoy playing in the mountains and planning my own projects.

I should add that when Terry (tmathews) was alive and on the site, he was a very prolific poster and nearly always trying to be helpful.
But he posted in what seemed like every thread and that bothered (some) people for whatever reason. He had a good heart behind it and was excited about being here and playing a part on the forum.

Sounds like an interesting show. If I had a TV I'd watch it, haha. A friend of mine lives in Kotzebue north of the Arctic Circle and I frankly think she's kind of nuts, but in a good way. She tends to agree when I tell her she's crazy for living there.
