I am a little confused about the 'round-trip length' measurements for both Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn. On the route description, it says Uncompahgre is 8 miles. But from the trailhead, the sign at the beginning says Uncompahgre - 2.5 miles? Where is 8 miles (rt) measured from?
As far as Wetterhorn goes, it says round trip is 7 miles, is this from the upper 4wd trailhead?
Just curious since I just finished these and was a bit confused.
Thanks!

Re: San Juan question
Can't say for sure about Uncompahgre - maybe the 2.5 on the sign is to the summit + another 2.5 on the descent?? i was wondering the same thing. Then if you add the road to and from the upper TH, it might end up being 8 round-trip.I am a little confused about the 'round-trip length' measurements for both Uncompahgre and Wetterhorn. Re: San Juan question
The RT mileage on both routes is from the upper trailheads. The 8 miles listed on the Uncompahgre route is probably a little high. It's probably more like 7 - 7.5 RT from the upper trailhead. I didn't have my GPS last time I was up there. As far as the 2.5 miles one way. That's wrong - it's longer than that.
The Wetterhorn RT mileage is also 7 - 7.5 miles RT.
