Looking for buddy/buddies for Mt Missouri, Mt Belford and Mt Oxford

Post by sumitshrestha »

Hello,
I am looking to have someone to accompany me on this trio 14er challenge. Its going to be long day and i would like to have someone. I am flexible with day of weekend. Sat, sun or even Monday. I am planning to camp overnight. Backpacking or just camping by parking lot is fine. Plan is to start early at 4AM so as to finish it by 2PM.

Best of luck finding a partner. Even if you can't find someone, there are plenty of people hiking/packing those trails so you won't be the only person out there. I've backpacked and day hiked these 14ers and can say both experiences are great so you'll enjoy whatever you do.

Getting all 3 was a fun hike I did last year from the TH so sharing some InReach timestamps to help you with planning.

Started hiking from trailhead at 11:42 PM
Just above treeline and the "log cabin" 1:03 AM
Summit of Belford via standard trail at 3:14 AM
Summit of Oxford at 4:20 AM
Summit of Belford at 5:34 AM
Belford to Missouri Gulch Saddle 6:05 AM
Note: I did not take the crumbly ridge from Missouri Gulch saddle to Missouri Mountain
Standard Missouri Mountain trail turn off from Missouri Gulch trail (12,598 ft) at 6:28AM
Summit of Missouri at 8:03 AM
Ended hike at trailhead 10:51 AM

I don't have my watch data available at the moment but some quick math puts the estimated elevation gain at 7,471 feet. I want to say mileage was somewhere between 15-18.

This isn't information you were asking for but I hope it helps.

Wow truly you are a batman. I am fine to do this alone as long as weather is nice. One question since you have already done it. Can i car camp at parking of trail head? I tried to find sources on that info but couldn't get it. I am thinking of overnight camping and starting early at 4AM.

There is no camping allowed at the trailhead, but I am sure some people sleep in their cars. There are plenty of spots along the road to the trailhead where you can pull out for dispersed camping. Just pack up and drive the extra 10 minutes up the road early the next morning.

PJ88 is right. That's also usually a packed and crowded trailhead so putting a tent anywhere isn't likely. You can also find a lot of camping passed the Ox/Bel/Mis trailhead towards the Huron Peak TH.

Hi! I’m planning to hike up to camp at the cabin remnants tomorrow evening (20 Aug), and then do Missouri first, thereafter Belford and Oxford Sunday morning (21 Aug). DM me if you want to join me.
