Close to summer anywhere in the Sangres?

Post by Codyhill1991 »

Hi everyone. I've been aggressively refreshing the CR page but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, in case anyone has info and didn't get around to a CR yet.
Did anyone get onto any 13ers in the Sangres this past weekend, particularly the central/northern parts of the range? I saw the photo of the Crestones in the Blanca TR and they look dry.
I'd like to backpack in somewhere and camp somewhere dry and climb something that is as close as possible to dry in the next few days. I can bring and ice ax and spikes but my comfort level on snow is very low right now and I don't camp on it. Was thinking about Fluted/Horn & co or Electric, Lakes & co but I'm flexible - any info about the area will be much appreciated. Danke!

I saw some pretty detailed satellite imagery from May 11th of that area. Lakes/Electric looked completely dry from the west side approach. I think you are going to be happy if you choose those.
Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.

The west side is going to be much clearer of snow than the East, but the East might be okay: Sentinel Hub Playground shows some snow on the ridge between Lakes/Electric, but the drainage looks pretty darn dry. Might be some snow, mud, and marsh, but I'd say go for it.
