Fairweather Peaks Sat 26-Jun-2021

Post by Carl_Healy »

I'm just curious if anyone is seeing any worthwhile peak, say 12,000' and above, that won't be seeing rain and/or snow and/or lightning this weekend?

I've spot checked NOAA forecasts for a number of peaks in just about every range but everything looks terrible...

Really wanted to get a peak in so just wondering if there's any slipping under my radar.

Mt Lindsey is the only one we saw that had a chance of decent weather.

Good luck,

My Garfield is brutally hot even on a 70 degree day (little shade and the slopes radiate the heat) so go prepared for that. Get an early start for sure. Personally I stay away from it in June.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Not sure how far you want to drive, but I’m eyeing Courthouse Mt (it’s 12,100+ so meets your criteria 😁 ) near Owl Creek Pass in the Cimarrons. Looks like a short hike with great views and it fits the amount of time I have during a family trip ... my criteria for worthwhile!

Back home there will be 100+ degree heat in Seattle. Rainier summit high temp will probably hit 60 degrees with no rain in sight for weeks.

Cascades normally get 3 months of rain free, storm free perfect weather in summer... but you didn't hear that from me lol
