What animal is this?
Does anyone know what animal would leave these tracks? This was along the Colorado Trail a few miles from the Shavano Trailhead. Some sort of bird??

Ah yes. The elusive GU bird. Identifiable by the distinctive GU droppings. A rare sighting.

That is Henry, great turkey of the Southern Sawatch.
Re: What animal is this?
Without a doubt it is a turkey track. Have seen turkeys in that area around Shavano before and I love hunting them. Hard to tell if it is a gobbler or hen track but looks big enough to be a gobbler. Grouse will leave very similar tracks just about 1/3 the size of what is in that photo.

We have turkeys everywhere in our neighborhood in Larkspur. Don’t know how much they weigh but I’m always surprised at how they make a deep track where I’m barely making a track.

Whenever I see crow prints in snow I always wonder why there’s a chicken on the loose
