Do we need a permit to camp at the Grey's trailhead? or in the mts in general?
Thanks!

No fee/permit needed at the Gray's trailhead. It's National Forest land.

Most Nat'l Forests and Wilderness areas are open to camping where ever you please. Indian Peaks Wilderness requires a pass, as do most of the national parks. IPW's fee is only like five bucks, and I believe is really only there to keep track of how many people are staying overnight.

That being said, please be sure you are practicing Leave No Trace ethics (http://www.lnt.org). :)

As I recall, there were some nice looking spots on the shelf to the climber's right shortly after the cut-off to the Kelso ridge trail...Water may be an issue though.

There are also plenty of sites around the trailhead/parking area, sans permit.
Probably nowhere but in Boulder would one encounter strippers who spend there vacations trekking in Nepal.
