Free Solo was just as awesome as I expected. Honnold is such an intriguing guy. Calm, unemotional, focused and actually super funny. Inspiring movie, walked out wanting to go do something (and burn off the 2,000 calories of buttered popcorn I just consumed).

Alex also gave a pretty neat TED Talk that I found to be an enjoyable precursor to Free Solo. A few things he said really resonated with me - definitely worth a watch in my mind

Listened to all 2 hours of the Joe Rogan Honnold interview and found it semi-painful to get through. Besides Rogan pumping a handful of products during the interview, would have been nice to learn just a glimpse of who Alex is as a person vs. Rogan trying to educate himself on climbing.

Welcome to the Joe Rogan Experience!

His podcast kinda only works if the guest constantly calls the dude out on his malarkey, and doesn't mind tossing some obscenities back at him. See the Neil Degrasse Tyson episodes. Joe Rogan is Cunningham's Law in practice.

Saw Free Solo last night. ..... Just wow. So glad he made it. His friend on the ground with the zoom camera was mostly not able to watch. Then I had several scary dreams last night about grasping and slipping off side of a building, etc. Just amazing how he can block out the fear. The part in the movie where he goes in for an MRI and the technician explains that the fear center of his brain works fine, but needs much more stimulus to activate.

Anyway, an amazing feat. Hopefully now he dials it back.

Alex's mother Dierdre Wolownick may have been the oldest woman to have climbed El Cap recently. 13 hours too.

Six hours on her second ascent! That's some fast jugging, wow!
