My main goal is to hike as much of the Japan Alps (and maybe a 3rd time up Fuji). That will depend on my being able to fly to and get into Japan, of course.

Backup plans are doing the entire JMT again and maybe some more Colorado 14ers.

This may strike some as modest, and somewhat vague. Preface: I'm 61, and there are a number of variables regarding my program for next year that prevent me from being more specific. In rough order of priority:

(1) Remain healthy.
(2) Spend plenty of time in the high mountains.
(3) Complete my first 50 mile ultra (currently signed up for the Antelope Canyon Ultra in March - the big variable here is whether I'll be fast enough to make the cut offs).
(4) Add some 13ers and 14ers to my list - not sure which ones - hopefully I can add at least a couple of the easier San Juan 14ers, and there are a bunch of 13ers closer to home that I have my eye on.
(5) Speaking of 13ers, I want to do the Weston pass to Mosquito pass traverse next summer.
(6) Run the 4 pass loop.
(7) Sweep parts of at least two Ultras - the Dirty Thirty events in Golden and Silverton.
(8) Maybe, maybe a 4 day Soft Rock - though I am somewhat intimidated by it.
(9) 2,000 miles running and 400,000 feet of vertical. This could be higher on the list (in terms of probability of completion), but is this low because as I get older I care less about these types of metrics.

IF (big if) I decide to take the summer off from work, I may through hike the Colorado trail.

I am going to be moving out of CO when my lease runs out in August 2022, so my very optimistic goal is to finish all the 14ers by then. Will really need to hustle between now and then to get it done, but I think it could be possible.

That's great, I loved it there. Which peaks are you targeting in Japan?

Pinky: Gee, Brain, what do you want to do next year?
Brain: The same thing we do every year, Pinky - try to finish the centennials!

That said: Jagged and Phoenix. That's it.

Edit: Now adding Trinity and Arrow due to LiDAR changes.

Trying to be a bit more ambitious in ‘22!

- Climb a 13er in every major Colorado mountain range
- Chicago Basin 14ers
-Wilson/ El Diente
- One new 12er/13er outside of CO
- Spending more time exploring western CO and SE Utah

One big self-powered trip on another continent, probably Europe or Asia. This is the one thing COVID really screwed up for me, and while it is not (and may never be) "over," the threat and travel restrictions have receded enough to make this feasible.

1. LiDAR orphans, I have a few lists to re-finish (this list may grow):
"Pink" aka "East Red" - Eagles Nest Wilderness and Summit County lists (want to ski it this spring)
PT 13545 - Lake County, 13ers (also on my uncompleted Hunter Fryingpan list)
PT 13555 - 13ers
Peak Eight - 13ers
Peak Ten - 13ers
(Maybe "West Eolus", its 299' prom after LiDAR buy debatable if the summit block got picked up)
North Maroon - 14ers
2. Hunter Frying Pan Wilderness, 6 left (PT 13545, 12990, 12266, 11900, Bald Knob and Riley)
3. Highest 700 (15 left +/- depending in LiDAR)
4. Continue to explore new areas, hopefully out of state/country.
5. Otherwise just get out and have fun, I try and go out every weekend and repeat a lot.
