I met him when I was in college. I worked as a runner for a huge ambulance company back home in south Louisiana. My job was basically to help do whatever BS the company needed done. Sometimes I'd have to mow the grass, sometimes I'd have to drive an ambulance halfway across the country. It all depended on the day.Scott P wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:46 pmMe too. When he was VP he used to (and maybe still does) fly into the Jackson Hole Airport to go fishing on some weekends. First they would fly in a big C-130 with his limos and entourage and get those off that plane before landing Air Force One (technically Air Force Two when the VP is aboard).
Anyway, I was working on an airport hangar project and since the Jackson Hole Airport isn't that big the two planes would take up a big chunk of the airport. Room was tight so we actually had to drive back and forth under the wing of Air Force One (Two) while we were working on the project. Someone else would drive the pickup and I would have to sit on the tailgate holding a wheelbarrow to get concrete back and forth for testing. Of course we were escorted and had to have all kinds of badges and background checks to do so. Dick Cheney would sit there and wave at us while he was waiting for us to be far enough away so he could get on the plane.
Cheney was VP at the time and would come down to the company duck camp once a year to hunt with the CEO. One of the random jobs I did yearly was to drive one of several RVs down to the camp for all the secret service guys to stay in. It was pretty neat to see the whole operation. They had frog men diving and swimming in the swamp checking it before they let him on the boat to go out to the blind.

It happens to the best of us.
I worked nights (for a whole week) at a Stop & Go in Alamo Heights back in undergrad. Some guy came in around 2am and I sold him something to drink, thinking nothing of it. Routine transaction.
My co-worker was wigging out the whole time in the back room. I asked why. "How did you play that so cool?"
I asked what he meant. "Dude, I would have been so nervous talking to him."
I asked what I was missing. "Under Siege, man. The Fugitive!"
Tommy Lee Jones had just made an appearance and I missed it.

I grew up in Cali so went to school with the likes of Nate Dog and Warren G. Went to house parties at Jamie Foxx’s place when all he had was a sofa and big screen tv. Met a lot of music, movie and TV peeps in those days: Mariah Carey, Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Omar Epps, all the Wayan’s brothers. Too many others to name. Jimmy Fallon and his show's house band The Roots (my cousin is band member Raymond Angry). A funny one was the dude who played Deebo (Tommy Lister) in Friday or Ron Jeremy at Fantasy Fest in Key West. Announced players at the WGC Championship on the 18th green at Doral a couple years and met Tiger Woods, Camilo Villegas and Greg Ogilvy. Other sports types: Scotty Pippen, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Tim Tebow. Lots of politicians but nobody cares about them! My favorite famous encounter was hanging out with the Fox NFL Sunday crew on deployment. We were told handshakes only and absolutely no individual pictures but when Michael Strahan saw my name he pulled me over to chat with them and I ended up getting to hang out for the entire broadcast. It pissed off everyone else in my unit but made my day, month and year. Poor Jay Glazer got cut out of the photo.

Most of the famous climbers I've met are active members on this site - too many to mention (you know who you are...)
Outside of that, I would list Richard Feynman and Frank Oppenheimer (who was a college prof of mine), Van Cliburn and Olga Kern as some very memorable famous people I've had the pleasure of meeting. And I would also add that actually I had a date with Kelly Harmon when I was in college @ CU in the 60's. Naturally, I didn't meet her criteria for a second date so I was pretty much a one and done...

Phil Ershler loaned me gear and guided me up Rainier. On that same trip , I was the only customer at Lou Whittaker's Bunkhouse and got to visit with him.
As an amateur tennis player I met Newcombe, Agassi, McEnroe , Borg and George H W Bush.
On the golf course my two most famous were Arnold Palmer and Ben Crenshaw.
Willie Nelson thought I was amusing while we waited to pick up kids at summer camp (I think he was stoned).

Re: Most famous person you've ever met?
I had the pleas.... umm.... experience, of designing the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Denver, and at its base the Elways Restaurant, about a dozen years ago; had to meet with John Elway and his partners/team several times. I also chest bumped Larry King as I was entering, he was exiting, the Hollywood Beverly Wilshire hotel about 20 years ago.
I lived in Baker Hall at CU in the early 1990s and two doors down from my room in "the Pit" was Kordell Stewart and Vance Joseph. During finals week they had a Nintendo football tournament you could sign up for.
