On South Maroon this past Monday, my team was at the 13,250 ft ridge/notch when a solo climber came down from the summit with his full-sized black lab. He said it took them 1.5 hours each way from the ridge. How that dog did Maroon (which isn't allowed anyway I don't think), I have no idea, let alone at what sounded like a race pacep...but between that and the fighter jets buzzing me on Crestone it's been a weird couple of weeks. He left a plastic bag of doggy doo on the suck trail on the descent. Wow.

There's no regulation against dogs on the Bells. Several dogs have done both. One of our dogs probably could have when she was younger but I never would have thought it worth the risk to her or other climbers.

Certainly not common but obviously not impossible.

Where is that crash site? That forest looks way to lush to be CO so if it is, there's only a few small places I've found that look like that.

There used to me one on top of Wilson Peak.

I think the plane was all carted off but one (at least) of the deceased is/are still up there. As I recall, there were four onboard when the plane hit almost the actual summit.

EDIT: the last of the deceased was found and recovered. https://www.telluridenews.com/news/arti ... d52a8.html

Found some wreckage in upper Thistledown (near Ouray) this weekend. Looks to be from a 1962 crash, though I couldn't find any more details. Satellite imagery shows it there as far back as 1985, so it's at least as old as me.
