Found some wreckage in upper Thistledown (near Ouray) this weekend. Looks to be from a 1962 crash, though I couldn't find any more details. Satellite imagery shows it there as far back as 1985, so it's at least as old as me.

There's no regulation against dogs on the Bells. Several dogs have done both. One of our dogs probably could have when she was younger but I never would have thought it worth the risk to her or other climbers.

Certainly not common but obviously not impossible.

Ugh. That was me, unfortunately. We always go full LNT and never leave bags or poop on the trail. Carried the dog poop on my pack double bagged and didn’t realize until Crater Lake the bag had broken and fallen off. It had burst and coated my bag, helmet, and pants with a healthy dose of feces. Definitely didn’t mean to leave anything up there. Apologies.

Three ol’ timey turboprop pilots, a little hard of hearing, are talking on take off. First one says
“Man! It’s windy” second one says
“NO, it’s Thursday.” Third one says,
“Me too! Let’s go get a drink.”

Had the family in Breck for a shoulder season getaway. Got up and drove up McCullough Gulch, wandered around on foot leaf peeping. Came across something that would be expected; a bull moose making calls to a cow downhill. Fall color absolutely gorgeous, decided the family needed to see it too.

Headed back to town, loaded everyone up and went back about 90 minutes later. Unexpected, both moose, along with two juveniles still in approximately the same area of the gulch. Except now the cow was dead and a couple hunters let us tag along to see her. The bull was still hanging around, and we didn’t stay long after hearing him in the willows.
