Chin up folks. I'm in Utah and quite worried about conditions here in UT and CO, and the west. Don't let the lingering snowpack fool you. It was due to a fairly cool April and May that kept snow on the mountains. Sorry for the choir I may be preaching to. But the west is in DIRE drought conditions that can burn thousands of houses in days. Not just in California. Chin up folks. Cuz only we us can make a difference. Get the word out. Be careful this summer... especially. Sorry to be such a preacher at times.

does anyone remember how to find that NOAA map that projects the next 48 hours of wind direction/smoke plumage?

Best to change the Domain to SW to get a zoomed in view. They only preview 48 hours at 6 hour intervals, the rest are just 18 hours
Re: San Juans- Air Quality
No rain in sight on the West Slope at least. It's baking and super dry out here.

now checking the farmington NM 10 day forecast to see which way the wind is blowing down around there --- and there is a huge wind storm picking up tomorrow - that might determine the whole thing in how that shakes out.

The Dolores River is nearly dry right now. It's running at 2 CFS.

Practice fatalism. Or don't, it doesn't matter either way.

For one, when its this dry, I would just say no campfires regardless of what bans are or are not in place.
