Congratulations for hitting this milestone Brad! Your motivation, sound decision making. fitness, and willingness to suffer show you are well beyond average! Your choice in wife wasn't bad either, keep up with the great support Mel!

And don't think your tribute to Steve Gladbach went unnoticed as I saw that you did not update your checklist count past his 480 until just hitting this 500 milestone. You truly are a class act!

A name that isn't mentioned too much anymore is Jim Gehres. In the late '80s early '90s, he was recognized as the person with the most 14er ascents, as he had climbed them all 12-13 times. I imagine part of that was a lack of information on other peaks to climb -- just stick to what is known. In 2000, I was preparing to leave the trailhead near Winfield to climb UN 13,253 when a gentleman asked me about my plans. I told him about my 13er for the day, and he introduced himself as Spencer Swanger, the first to climb all of the centennials. (He was leading a CMC group up Huron that day.) He talked about how things had changed a little even in 2000, as when he climbed the centennials, the routes were far from developed.
I had to look him up, and wow. Also a founder of CFI. If anyone else is interested, https://scienceline.org/2012/08/taking- ... nic-route/

And congrats Brad. Theres a few I don't want to repeat once, much less twice.

500 summits with only 16 unsuccessful attempts is quite impressive and a very good success ratio. Nicely done, Brad.
