Thanks Greenonion!

Over the past few days we've noticed a couple house wrens bouncing around our yard. Last night we saw one wren exploring an empty nest box we have in the back corner. This morning the little bird was carrying nesting material into the nest box. We have two nest boxes in our yard and now both are being used. It is so satisfying to give these birds a home. :-D

Last weekend we were driving through our county when my wife noticed a dark shadow in a scraggly cottonwood beside the road. I pulled to the side and parked. To my amazement it was a family of great horned owls.

Very cool owl pictures! I hear great horned owls fairly frequently near our house but rarely see them, and when I do, it is usually only a silhouette since it's nearly always at night.

Well, I am bumping this thread to see if I can get Kimo to post a few more photos.

Also, I read that hummingbirds do not return and reuse old nests. This guy/gal? disagrees.

In my carport tonight.
Back for a second season.

It's that time of year again for migrating birds. Anyone see anything interesting lately, or since last spring? Check out this rare yellow cardinal spotted in Illinois... https://www.cbsnews.com/news/yellow-car ... e-million/

Interesting. While not migratory I saw two turkeys every day this week. They seem to have set up camp nearby. I think with the melting snow they're finding more food underneath.
