Re: Let's see your artwork!
i do abstracts, acrylic on canvas. i did this one after my culebra trip. it was an abysmally grey day, but was offset by the lush green of the lower meadow interspersed with a wash of purples/pinks and specks of white. i've been to colorado countless times - i had extended family there growing up and made many a trip, and have made several trips now as an adult to climb - and this was one of my favourite days in the state, ever, hands down.

Very nice, brichardson! Thank you!
And CHLuke - give my compliments to your grandmother's interpretation of Capitol!
I love to see what other artist's see as inspiration and then use a particular medium to express it. Keep'm coming!

This is a stained glass panel I designed and built for a friend and surprised her with a big wood crate to open for her birthday at our campsite in Moab.

Or is it the white of frost?
Raising my head, I see the moon over mountains.
Lowering it, I remember all my debts and errors.”

This is a glass panel that I designed based on sketches I made of a skylight at the Frank Lloyd Wright studio in Oak Park, IL.

Re: Let's see your artwork!
This latest painting of Longs and the Flatirons I did a time-lapse video. It's funny how the speed makes the long tedious process of painting/drawing seem so energetic and exciting. It's 10 hours condensed into under 5 minutes:

Re: Let's see your artwork!
Not sure these qualify, but it's an art form right?
At least they sound better than they look......
Two recent compositions.

Re: Let's see your artwork!
Aaron, that is really cool to see you in action! And I love your new and different perspective of Longs and Meeker! I’d also LOVE to be able to produce something like that in just 10 hrs!
(But I have to tell you, I had to mute the sound to watch the entire thing! Ha! That pulsing music drove me batty! A good Allegro movement from a Vivaldi Concerto or the like would have suited it much better for me )
Derek – thanks for your contribution too! Yes, art is indeed in the eyes of the beholder. Even a written poem or music could be perceived as “visual art” in addition to art in its own medium I suppose. When I think of ‘music art’, I think of something more like the attached below:
But I’d like to actually hear it. I putz around on the piano myself a bit and tried to play it, but it was a bit difficult to decipher some of the notes. And I’m not particularly good at “oomp-paa, oomp-paa”, or more contrapuntal stuff. I’m better at playing chordal music. My wife is much better at that so I had her give it a try, but she had a lot of trouble reading it too.
Have you ever used a music notation program like Finale NotePad 2012? You can download the basic program for free and although it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles the purchased ones have, it still gives you a lot of options so you can print out your stuff in real professional notation. I’d love to hear your stuff if you ever want to send me a YouTube performance.
Anyway, thanks again to all you new artists chiming in! I love seeing all your different talents!
