I still don't know what the 80% rule is. The rule states that you can put out 60% of your sea level effort at 14k feet? Shouldn't that be the 60% rule? Or is it designed for those who live at 7000 feet already?

Also you keep using the word desiccate...I don't think it means what you think it means.

Really basic: "My friendo, welcome to the Colorado Rockies. Hey, the higher we go, the less Oxygen you are going to have to breath! You're body/muscles need Oxygen to perform at their best. You will not be able to do what you did at home up here. That's just the way it is! Let's keep hiking and I'll show you first hand!"

Can't get much more simple than that.

80% is the maximum sustainable effort level one can maintain for a long time. The title is arbitrary, just a title.
