Has anyone ever climbed all the 14ers barefoot?

I don't know about barefoot ... but, the second time we went in to do the Wilson/El Diente traverse, we met an IT guy from California that was doing all the Colorado 14ers in tevas. He was on his second pair when we spoke with him (and he had done the Traverse and Wilson Peak that day). :wft: Hardly the ankle support I'm lookin' for right now. :-"
As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

'Don't know about all of them. But a year or two ago there were some posts regarding a guy who was seen climbing a 14er barefoot like it was business as usual. I seem to recall that he was from another country -- somewhere in Europe, I think. Personally, I can't fathom the concept. Encountering cold tiling in the house causes me to quickly backtrack for my slippers ever time!

Similar story...a few years ago I watched a barefoot guy traverse from N to S Maroon and back in about and hour. Any feelings of superiority I had after just finishing that traverse were thoroughly crushed!

If you posted about that experience then it might be the one I mentioned. It seems to me it was either in the Elks or northern Sawatch -- so that matches.

The guy who did the Maroon traverse barefoot was Papilon (sp).
He is from a foreign country - Texas.

'Found these two links. The first is COBuckeye's comment appearing on a trip report ...

http://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=10992&cpgm=tripmain&ski=Include

... and here's one about a sighting up on Bierstadt:

I still seem to recall someone posting about actually chatting with such a hiker and that the guy was from out of the country. Ah, just read osprey's post. So it was Texas, huh? Thanks for filling the gap, osprey.

Back to the OP .... Is this something you are considering?

Edited: Removed the TX tweak -- anyone who can do that traverse barefoot deserves more respect!

Pretty sure the barefoot guy posted his climb of Maroon traverse on this website - but cannot find it now. May have his name wrong.

Do you think Bill will add a footprint option to the snowflake, solo, ski, etc? Or would people just think that you climbed the 14ers with Bigfoot?

A friend of a friend climbed Crestone Needle barefoot last year, AND it was his first 14er!
