Ice near Aspen/Snowmass?

Postby carson_h » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:31 am

I'll be in the Aspen/Snowmass area soon, and it looks like the skiing is going to suck. Where's the best ice climbing in that area with top rope access? I get the impression that the Marble/Redstone area is best, but I can't find any details on the top rope options.

Thanks!

Redstone isn't as high as places like Silverton or Lincoln Falls, so the ice doesn't come in as early. We haven't heard any reports of routes formed up yet.

Even when the season gets rolling, usually more into December, there aren't loads of top rope options. Redstone Pillar is a good WI3 with a straightforward walk-off.
