From the trailhead, follow the Huron trail into the forest -
1. After nearly 1/2 mile, cross a small stream -
2. Ascend 800 feet of elevation via a series of switchbacks and eventually begin heading south near 11,500'. Near 11,700, the view opens up and you can see The Three Apostles, a trio of 13ers that includes Ice Mountain -
3. Near 11,900', swing east as you exit the trees -
4. Huron's summit soon comes into view. Above 12,100', reach the high basin
below Huron's north slopes -
5 and
6.
Follow the trail east across the basin and switchback up a steep slope towards Huron's upper slopes -
7. Near 12,700', you're at the base of the slopes but the foreshortened view makes it a bit difficult to see the trail as it switchbacks higher -
8 and
9. Zig zag up the slope to reach the crest of the north ridge
, at 13,500' -
10 and
11. Turn right and follow the trail onto Huron's upper northwest face -

13. When you regain the ridge crest (
14), turn right and continue to the summit
