Powderwhore's "Flakes"

Postby Rockymtnhigh69 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 5:58 pm

Just wondering if any of my fellow BC ski enthusiasts will be going to Powderwhore's "Flakes" this Friday night at 7 PM at the Oriental Theatre in the Highlands.. These guys make great movies and the telemark skiing is off the hook amazing.. We are planning to meet beforehand to throw a few beers back at Patrick Carroll's Pub... It would be be good to see some of my fellow 14ers.com brethren out for some libations :iluvbeer: and then go check out the movie... Hope to see some of you Friday.. :YY
On my first take-off, I hit second gear and went through the speed limit on a two-lane blacktop highway full of ranch traffic. By the time I went up to third, I was going 75 and the tach was barely above 4000 rpm....
And that's when the Ducati got its second wind. From 4000 to 6000 in third will take you from 75 mph to 95 in two seconds - and after that, Bubba, you still have fourth, fifth, and sixth. Ho, ho.

If I weren't flying to Tennessee for a wedding, I would probably drive out for it! I'd love to see it again. :)

I'm seeing it at the Backcountry Bash... have fun!
Such things for example as the grasp of a child's hand in your own, the flavor of an apple, the embrace of a friend or lover...sunlight on rock and leaves, the feel of music, the bark of a tree, the abrasion of granite and sand, the plunge of clear water into a pool, the face of the wind--- what else is there? What else do we need?

Shweet. Do I need to buy a ticket to the film or something? That sounds pretty damn sweet. I have never seen a full powderwhore film but I remember 4 years ago when I just started telemark I pretty much used their Teasers on Youtube to teach myself and to model my style off of. I would have to say it paid off. From what I can tell from their teasers they have a pretty unique style of cinematography relative to other skiing films.
I hope I can make it the the film, but not to the bar, drinking age isn't 17 yet.

Yep, those boys make a damn fine telemark film! The special Cribs episode section with Nick Devore in his yurt near Aspen is pretty good stuff.

It might be so good I have to see it twice, in which case I'll wander up to FC.

From what I've heard from you about Telemark (you sound just like my blasted roommates), I'd imagine you'll want to watch this film about a dozen times.

It's a really cool movie, lots of sped up skinning footage and powder flying around, it has much more of a Colorado feel to it than some of these other films that seem to be jam packed with nothing but extreme big mountain footage and/or ski industry ads (that stuff's cool too, just not what skiing is really like or about for many of us). Oh and there's some pretty big lines skied in this film too, on Tele! :o

Please come up to the Fort for a night if you can make it. This is the Outdoor Club's first attempt to raise money for a local organization, and I'm confident that it will only be the beginning of a strong relationship between our club and the greater outdoor community.
