MN Highpoint for TM
Eagle Mountain MN.
July 2, 2007
I feel honored to have summited Eagle Mountain (MN Highpoint) accompanied by the Spirit of Talus Monkey.
The journey begins at the North Shore of Lake Superior.
This slab would be a bad place to stand if the wind was whipping the lake into a frenzy. You would be swept away.
The rugged shoreline of Lake Superior just 15 miles north of Duluth.
The rivers were flowing beer in honor of Talus Monkey.
This is where HWY 61 crosses the Cascade River at the big lake.
Cascade Falls
Many people spend countless hours combing the shoreline in hopes of finding the elusive Lake Superior Agate.(MN state gemstone)
This one I found a little closer to home. (Elk River MN in a gravel pit.)
Now on to the mountain.
This is a view of Eagle Mountain across Whale Lake.
Near the summit, scenic vista of the BWCAW.
At the summit.
The wind carried off my little placard just seconds after the last photo.
I took this to mean that the spirit of Talus Monkey rode the wind over the unspoiled Minnesota wilderness.
