Elbert NE route in winter

Post by flatlander88 »

Hey,

Me and some friends are wanting to hike Elbert around mid January. We'd like to do the NE route over the standard route but I didn't find much info on this route in the winter. So is this a good winter route? In terms of a well pack trail and route finding. It looks as if more of the route is in the trees so hopefully keep the winds at bay for part of the trip. What do you think of the NE vs the standard route in the winter? pros and cons?

Thanks

The NE ridge is the standard route on Mt Elbert.
In winter, the East Ridge is the preferred route for Elbert
