Pacific West Ridge
Curious to see if anyone who has done this route can compare it to any of the 14er routes. I was thinking that it was very much so a class 3 with plenty of class 3 moves. Any thoughts?

Most of it is class 2 with a some class 3 moves here and there, with the class 3 coming closer to the summit. I suppose it would be comparable to the west ridge on Quandary.

This was my introduction to class 3, just about 3 years ago. A couple of very experienced guys led the way, I just followed. There were a few areas where my buddy went to scout ahead to see if it would go, so even with very experienced eyes, the route wasn't completely obvious.
I didn't have anything to compare it to at the time. Since then, I've only done about four class three 14ers, along with many more 13ers...but I would say maybe Kelso Ridge... but looser and dirtier? I would be curious to see what anyone else thinks. I am very glad we descended via Atlantic.
Here are a couple of pics taken from Atlantic's west ridge on the way down, with a close up of one of the cruxy sections. Hope this helps.

Mind you it's been 10 years since I did this route, but my recollection is similar to Tory's. I remember it being steep sections of Class 2 interspersed with exposed Class 3 scrambling in a couple parts particularly near the top where you climb into the notch and up to the summit.

Compared to Kelso Ridge on Torreys, Pacific's west ridge has less Class 3 but a fair amount of steep, loose rock.
