Green mountain from the Flatirons

Postby jomagam » Wed Jun 26, 2013 8:50 am

Hopefully there's a Boulderite who knows this: is there a trail between the end of the 1st/2nd Flatirons trail and the Ampitheater trail leading up to Greet Mountain ? Looks like it's only a couple of tenth of a mile distance.

There is. It goes down approx. from where the rap off the First lands you and goes down to the Ampitheater trail.

I wouldn't call it a trail, more like a "trail". In addition to the one heading down to Amphitheater, there is one going up to the summit (or near it). You have to scramble/hike around the towers behind the 1st, then you'll find a series of use trails that wind their way up the ridge. They get stronger as you go higher, but in general stay close to the ridge. The exit onto EM Greenman requires a little class 2+ to get off the ridge, nothing hard though. Its a fun route, won't see a soul, nice views too.

Thanks. I found the route. Now I have a new favorite way to showcase Boulder Open Space to guests. First hike in to the start of the 1st and wait at most 5 minutes for somebody to start soloing. That impresses the guests :) Then hike up and see cool views of Boulder. Then go to the top of Green Mountain and check the view ideally around sunset.
