I am leaving the denver area at 3, should be there around 6 or so. Driving a gold Honda pilot, should be fun!! If anyone wants to carpool let me know but I have to be back in denver Saturday evening so I will be leaving right after the climb...

We may also be joined by a sneaky whiskered stowaway...

MAUI!!! Presto does the same thing ... stowaway in a pack, a box, a bag ... thanks for posting the photo, Anna. :-D
As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

Salida is bone dry. Shavano not so much; more snow than rock. Bring your snow shoes. (Was much drier 3 weeks ago)

Literally just found out I have to be on call for work this weekend (aka in cell phone range with access to a computer in a reasonable amount of time).
Figures that the first - and potentially the only - time this ever happens to me is now.

Have a great time and be safe - I'm extremely jealous.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

At the TH, take a left and drive a few hundred feet to a Y junction. My blue Mazda is parked right there, big meadow on the left.

Dry and partly sunny here at camp! I'm the guy in the yellow coat with the girl and the dog.
