Thanks Bean. Right now, its really just a waiting game until the court decides. 2 months + and counting>

You know this just burns me up, the court upheld the ruling....
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/28813996/detail.html

The outdoor enthusiasts who brought the lawsuit should have challenged the fees on a personal level, the court said, instead of challenging the fee for everybody, the ruling said. "We hardly mean to suggest that the Service's policy can't be attacked at all. It might well be susceptible to a winning challenge" if the plaintiffs had framed their challenge differently, the court wrote.

Right, so they are insinuating everyone should take this court over a $10 fee...

Well good news, the USFS will no longer be hassling people for illegal fees to travel a state highway and/or access the wilderness along it. They're reportedly still obstructing the highway to try to extract money out of people but that should change soon.

Any details on how this came about? Curious what changed, happened, or was ruled on. Good news!

Climbing partner: "Is this uphill the whole way?"
Kojones: "No, only half the hike is uphill."

Western Slope No Fee Coalition represented a couple plaintiffs, who settled out of court with the USFS. The settlement includes a thru-lane down by the fee booth, and changing the "fee area" from the entire corridor to three distinct locations (the visitor center at Mt. Goliath, Summit Lake, and the summit). Cyclists no longer have to pay any fees to avoid being bullied and threatened by USFS employees for enjoying the view at the top, as well.

I have never seen this thread before today, and it is AWESOME!!!
Peter Aitchison on the risks of rock climbing and mountaineering: "That's life, isn't it? We think the challenge and satisfaction you get from doing this is worth the risks."

"Respect the mountain. Train hard. Hope you can sneak up when it isn't looking."

"The mind is always worried about consequences, but the heart knows no fear. The heart just does what it wants."

We should have a celebratory bonfire using the "tickets" we have all been issued over the years!
"The greatest battle is not physical but psychological. The demons telling us to give up when we push ourselves to the limit can never be silenced for good. They must always be answered by the quiet, steady dignity that simply refuses to give in. Courage. We all suffer. Keep going." - Graeme Fife

"I found that nothing truly matters, that you cannot find for free." - The Gaslight Anthem
