Tigiwon Road Opens...when?

Looking to do Notch Mountain in about a month pending that the road is open. Anyone know typically when that happens?

FYI, biking that road while it's closed to motorized vehicles is allowed and recommended if you want some solitude.

There's a cut out in the gate specifically to get bicycles through (like you couldn't go under? maybe they want it explicit?). You WILL likely have the campground totally to yourself. You can get water at the TH creek and later on at the falls on Fall Creek trail (other sources further up are sporadic and dependent on snowfall/melt). Be sure to lock your bike up good; bears are getting rather tired of their unicycles. Recommend going Halfmoon then take the trail from the pass for Notch (see my TR in sig). Or, you could do the long haul and come in from Homestake and go past Seven Sisters, Constantine, and Tuhare lakes. If you summit Notch, consider doing the traverse (also in TR), checking out the shelter, then taking the class 1 and well-marked shelter trail back to the Tigiwon TH. Shelter has a padlock, but was unlocked in early June '12 while the road was still closed. Be ready for some timber-scrambling as there will likely be some falls across the trail of varying difficulty.
