Cirque on Pikes Peak's South Side?

Post by bubba911t »

I'm aware of the cirque in the Bottomless Pit area of Pikes Peak, but I'm trying to pinpoint another cirque on the south side of Pikes Peak. If you're looking straight on at Pikes Peak, the cirque I'm referring to would be on the left. I'm thinking of hiking to this area tomorrow, but want to know what I'm getting into first.

Thanks!

On the Pikes Peak Atlas it's labelled "The Crater". There was a discussion of it here a couple years ago: http://www.14ers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29610" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Atlas shows a trail going over to it from the A-Frame.

You might send an email to Neal Taylor, the Barr Camp caretaker. I recall hearing that he climbed all the snow lines in that cirque a few years back.
