Oh no - I was just hoping to put a period at the end of a long paragraph. It's done.

Complete the analogy:

Boulder residents mourn Mapleton elk at candlelight vigil : Boulder Hippies

::

Dog owner sentenced : ___________
- A mountain is not a checkbox to be ticked
- Alpinism and mountaineering are not restricted to 14,000 foot mountains
- Judgment and experience are the two most important pieces of gear you own
- Being honest to yourself and others about your abilities is a characteristic of experienced climbers
- Courage cannot be bought at REI or carried with you in your rucksack

Easy.
I'll be damned if I feel like I will ever know anything, but if we don't keep moving on that last hill, we'll never know what's on the other side.

Sarcasm or not, it's not even funny to post something like this. Not at this time. Reported.

What I found interesting on that thread* was that Steve O and his friends came into it, gave a lot of information about themselves and Steve.

For years to come, when Steve O goes for a job and HR does a net search for his name it will come up that "Steve O was the guy who abandoned his dog on a mountain to die while he went off on a business trip."

*Along with the great outpouring of concern and action by the rescuers here.

So here's my completely off-topic reaction to this news story:
Dog owner sentenced

I was surprised to see that I knew 9-Mountain News Reporter Matt Renoux. I was his high school teacher back in the early '90s. You'll notice he didn't make a single math error in his reporting of the story.

MOUNTAIN News Reporter. One more ex-student that I can't be proud of cause I'm too busy being jealous!

If you see this Matt, "Hey" to you and the family!

How many candles does it take to roast an elk? Was that the point of the vigil/BBQ?
