Good Morning All,

Any recent "intel" on winter climbing. I am a beginner winter climber, but am ready to become an intermediate. I've climbed 30+ of the 14ers and ready to tackle more. I don't think I can wait until spring to climb again.

Nice meeting some of you guys... Caroline, Carl, Kevin, Otina, Helmut, Ike, Finns, etc. Sorry I had to dine and dash but I'm sure I'll run into many of you in the mountains this Winter.

We'll need to have more of these to make sure you can come out again. Boulder has more than plenty breweries in the town, so I'm sure we can step up to Denver for monthly HH's. Not all will be as big or accommodating as BJ's. Since we all look different without ski gear on

It was fantastic to meet so many people with similar interests. I wish I would have had more time to chat with everyone that attended! It was a fun evening, and I received some great WINTER TIPS from everyone:

Top Ten Winter Tips

10. Don’t rush out and buy expensive gear until you learn more, and experience more winter.
9. Ski’s could be my friend, in some capacity, in the back country.
8. Bottles of hot water in the sleeping bag are the bomb. Especially, if you want to sneak out of the tent and do a midnight ski.
7. I need to look into getting a “muff”.
6. I must get liner gloves that have the finger tip that works on my Iphone (so I don’t have to take them off).
5. Buy heat packs in boxes from Costco.
4. Keep your boots in the car with you by the heater, and start your “heat packs” in your mittens BEFORE you get out of the car.
3. Try to get out with others that know what they are doing.
2. Educating myself about Avi’s is essential – with field exploration included.

AND FINALLY....

1. I have to buy a Patagonia R1 Hoodie.

A big thanks, again, to those more advanced than myself that attended and contributed.

I have contacted MtnChick for copies of our "Group Photo"..... will be interesting to see how that turned out given we had close to 45 people.

Cheers!

Mindy

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring.

I always have Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays off. Please keep me in mind if anyone has a flexible schedule for the weekdays.

I'd like to keep whittling away at "THE LIST" but definitely up for repeats, as long as they are in favorable conditions. I am in good shape (Don't mind breaking trail), will have my AAIRE I in January, good with map and compass, and have all necessary equipment.

I'm flexible to hike in winter during the weekdays and weekends.

I've only done 9 in winter so far, and I'm excited to add more "winter 14ers" to my list of experiences. I'm looking to hike the class 1 & 2 routes this winter, and happy to repeat peaks.

ChrisinAZ and I are looking to hike San Luis this winter, so hopefully I'll be setting up a team for that soon ;)

Nine days to Solstice; Chicago Basin still green top to bottom.
Train runs daily from Solstice to New Years.

Anyone with no family, no Xmas plans, no life, no job, and a few winter skills, interested?

I've heard it's the BEST winter hike in CO. I think there serving world famous donuts at Capitol Lake too O:)

Did this ever end up happening? Has anyone been back there this winter?
