First Rule of long range snow forecasts: Don't talk of long range snow forecasts.
Second Rule of long range snow forecasts: Don't talk of long range snow forecasts.

Third Rule of long range snow forecasts: It'll be a cut-off low.

I'm an eternal optimist...it will snow regardless.

^^ Yeah, but a hundred-some inches like last year or 900+ like Schofield got in 07-08. I need to know now!!!

*Meh, at least it's really nice out now, even if there isn't any snow yet.

yea i hear you there, it's NOV 2nd. I'll panic if it hasn't snowed by mid DEC :)

50s for highs right now, might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

It's already there in the western IPW. We went up to Watanga Lake last weekend and found about 1 foot or more in depth from just below 10k.

Don't know what you all are talking about - I had quite the powder day at A-Basin a few days ago!
How long after arriving at someone's house is it appropriate to ask for the WiFi password?

After what seems like 20 months since the last decent snowfall in most of Colorado and what seems like a very dry and warm last 3 weeks Winter seems to be arriving just in time for the opening of a few resorts which were basically opening thanks to snowmaking with conditions that have been marginal at best for that activity in most places.

Snow, we welcome you with open arms, C'MON! =D> =D>

Cold weather, bring it! \:D/

"three studies published in the past year have found that the jet stream has been getting stuck in unusually strong blocking patterns in recent years. These studies found that the recent record decline in Arctic sea ice could be responsible, since this heats up the pole, altering the Equator-to-pole temperature difference, forcing the jet stream to slow down, meander, and get stuck in large loops. The 2012 Arctic sea ice melt season was extreme, with sea ice extent hitting a record lows."

As I have had it explained to me, "Sometimes the weather is a little bit this way, and sometimes it is a little bit that way."

That's our microcosmic view!
It looks like the ridge is just right up there!

Joel Gratz has put up a video of his talk last night at Neptune. Funny, informative, and contains info about this weekend's storm.
