For Freezing Temps - Something like Gu

Postby Dex » Sat Nov 03, 2012 1:13 pm

During freezing weather I use Mountain Blend Gorp with additional M&M Peanut Butter thrown in.

I'm looking for a suggestions for something like GU that doesn't freeze.

Before the hike I usually have Pop Tarts. After the hike it is a protein shake then skinless chicken and pasta.

As I get older the nutrition part has really become inportant in the recovery process.

I use gu in cold weather.

Just keep 1-2 in the chest pocket of my base layer, replace the one I take with one from my thigh pocket.

Stays nice and gu-ey.

I use Perpetuem Solids (Hammer) or Shot Bloks (Clif). Neither will freeze.

Thanks - I'm going to try the Perpetuem Solids. I like that they have a little protien in them.

^^ Yeah, the cafe latte is pretty tasty. That said, I've never had a GU freeze.
