Fourth Annual 14ers Winter Welcomer!

Need a climbing partner? Trying to form a hiking group for an outing?

Should we cancel or change the date due to winds?

Poll ended at Sat Oct 27, 2012 9:04 pm

1. Let's not cancel. Winter and wind go go together. Still down for Saturday!

2. Yes, let's cancel. Gusts to 55 mph are not my idea of a welcomer. Besides, I'm not very experienced, and I'd like something mellow to start out.

3. I'd really like to go, but maybe conditions will be better next weekend. I'd be down for Nov 3 or 4.

Are people still doing costumes? I'd been talking with some folks about teaming up on teletubby costumes (a way to take advantage of colorful climbing gear), anyone still up for that?

Starting to sound like a pretty large group. Do we have any idea of a head count? I know that we will most likely be in small groups heading up at our own rates, but does anyone have a proposed start time? Pictures at what... 12pm - 1pm?

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and picking your experienced brains on some of the winter topics!

Is there a carpool forum for this trip? I will be coming from just down the road near Fairplay.

This will be my first wintery climb. I have spikes, will snowshoes be necessary?

I wouldn’t plan on snowshoes. Spikes might be good to have along with a pole(s). The biggest issue will be dressing for the cold.

Anyone interested in heading to Aspen after to try Thunder Pyramid on Sunday?

I'm planning on being there. I'm a slooow hiker so I'm going to get an early head start so I can meet everyone at the top!
