Fourth Annual 14ers Winter Welcomer!

Need a climbing partner? Trying to form a hiking group for an outing?

Should we cancel or change the date due to winds?

Poll ended at Sat Oct 27, 2012 9:04 pm

1. Let's not cancel. Winter and wind go go together. Still down for Saturday!

2. Yes, let's cancel. Gusts to 55 mph are not my idea of a welcomer. Besides, I'm not very experienced, and I'd like something mellow to start out.

3. I'd really like to go, but maybe conditions will be better next weekend. I'd be down for Nov 3 or 4.

Bill, would it be worth starting a separate thread for organizing carpools?

It probably couldn't hurt.. Let's give a few more days of people figuring out that they want to go - we will start the string a week before.

I cant make this... it kills me - I really wanted to tag along.

Have fun dudes and dudettes!
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

Ruptured a disc (and herniated two others) in my back a few weeks ago. Unsure if I'll be out running/climbing/hiking by that time. We'll see... if so, may be a good mellow day to get back out on my feet.

You can take me off the list. I'm likely looking at spinal surgery at this point and/or at least another 3-4 months off of running/climbing/etc. :(

I'm sorry to hear that. Someone I know had the same problem with his back and it was the most excruciating thing I have seen someone go through. He got to the point where he couldn't even walk because the sciatic nerve was pinched so bad. However, surgery should help a lot (it did for him) and I hope all goes well. Get well ASAP!

Bummer. I get depressed when knee tendonitis takes me out for a week. I hope your back gets better soon.

So I just found out that I'll be able to come :) I'll be coming with my husband Sean. Looking forward to it!

Although.... hopefully it'll feel more wintery than it does now!

 Right?

Unless things change, as of today, the jet looks to be hanging over Colorado for a while, and no major storms in the current 7-day forecast. Not ideal conditions for a winter welcomer, for sure.
Will keep tabs on the forecast and winds.
