I'm guessing standard route? Are people camping over or driving up in the AM? I am a maybe right now, let you know Tues or Wed. Thanks!

I think I mentioned this on the meetup site but I climbed both on Saturday and snow was negligible. Looks like a warm week so you guys should have pretty clear conditions. Watch for frost and ice on the north and west facing rocks btwn Shavano and Tabeguache - not awful but definitely some opportunities to slip if you're on the traverse before the sun can warm it up like we were. Have fun!

This fits in perfectly with my plans to try to get in two peaks this weekend. +1 on the camping/driving question, although I’ll probably just get up early and drive to the TH.

Might be interested, I am certainly looking to climb something this weekend!

Anyone coming from the Fort Collins area, want to maybe share a ride?

Any idea how many miles that hike is? Navigating this site onto phone is kind of a pain. Anyways, I may be there.

11.25 miles / 5600' gain
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

So I'm thinking I'll sleep at the TH the night before. Its 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive for me and if we start at 530 I just don't want to get up that early. Anyone planning the same?

It definitely makes sense to sleep at TH for Shav/Tab. It is probably closer to 3 hr drive from Denver to the TH. They are the furthest Sawatch 14ers if you think about it.

Please send me a PM is you are serious about climbing Sunday. Again, the details are all listed here: http://www.meetup.com/CO-Scramblers/events/84672332/. Sleeping at the TH is advised, and there are plenty of places to do so.

Cheers!

PM sent. I might have changed my mind and drive/camp the night before. I’ll be coming from Conifer if anybody needs a ride.
