A fallen climber spent the night on Snowmass Mountain in Gunnison County before being rescued Sunday and airlifted to a Denver hospital in critical condition.

The climber's name was not released.

The injured climber was reported to authorities late Saturday night, and rescued by the Mountain Rescue Aspen and Gunnison County Search and Rescue personnel, who transported the man to a helicopter landing spot above Gem Lake. The injured man was flown to Aspen Valley Hospital, then to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood.

Because I had a thread on doing Snowmass last weekend, I have gotten some emails asking if it was me or anyone in "my group". It wasn't and I cancelled.

The person who got injured has my sympathy.

Thanks for the link.

Sad that someone got hurt. How terrible. It's good to hear that he survived and I wish him the best.
