Where are you looking? I'd say on the contrary - they're pretty [beautifully] intense this year.

Well sure if you crank the saturation level to the max.

I was around Snowmass today, colors are brilliant, although not necessarily reflected in my photos due to flat light. Looks great in person, camera doesn't quite capture it. Here is Mt. Daly.

About 100 pictures here in this album from a road/hike trip over the long weekend. Some of the pictures that turned out OK are below.

The snow adds an outstanding quality to the pictures. Those of you last week didn't have them in your pictures. But there is a fine line between having the snow and the trees losing their leaves. It is the picture that you natives of Colorado are blessed to get whenever you want, and those of us from out-of-state can only hope with a little help from God to get.

Thanks everyone. I cancelled my trip. I never could get any good pictures for the Telluride/Ridgway area from any of you. From what I can tell, it is at peak right now. By the time I got there Sat. or Sunday, I'm afraid the leaves will be gone. Right now, the snow on Mt. Sneffels is incredible with the trees turning all the way down into the valley. Very unusual for them to turn at the same time. But all will be gone soon for those of us that travel from out-of-state. Better luck next year.

T-ride posted an image on their facebook from this morning. Looks close to peak there.

That's probably best. Southwestern Colorado is boring as hell if the leaves aren't changing. There's nothing to do down there; it's a total yawnfest. In the absence of changing aspens, the terrain is boring and uninspiring. There are no mountains to hike or climb, amazing views, 4WD roads, fishing, canyons, trains, mountain biking, skiing, breweries, restaurants, or tourist destinations anywhere nearby.

Kansas! That's what you want! Kansas is where it's at. There's always something amazingly awesome happening in Kansas. I prefer to go there. Driving I-70 through Kansas is an amazing, life-changing experience, way more enjoyable than 550 from Durango to Ouray. And I love how you can just look out across the unchanging terrain and feel that welling sense of agorophobia. Awesome!

I was on Kebler Pass today (it rained all afternoon, you didn't miss anything), and the colors seemed pretty well along. I was there last year, I was curious how this year and last compared, checked a few pictures, I was there last year on 10/1 and the leaves still weren't as far along as they are today, so we seem to be at least a week ahead of last year.

Hey Doug. I get it. Yeh you are right. But have been there done that other stuff. It is about the pictures with me. But I'm already regretting my decision. And as the pictures come in, I will probably regret it more!
