Quad Maps on site

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Sat Jun 23, 2012 8:55 pm

This one actually might be REALLY helpful to some of you. I'm in the process of adding USGS quads maps (PDF form) for the 14er areas. So far, I've added maps where summits reside but will soon have all of the surrounding ones out there.

On a route description, look for the Quad. Maps "View/Download..." link:

Which brings up a window with links to the maps:

As you can see in this example, not all of the maps have links. More to come...

And here's how it looks on the "Map" tab of the route description:

On most of the maps I'm getting this file type: octet/stream and not a pdf. Not sure what to do with it?

It's working for me (IE v9) on all maps but let me try a different browser.

Mac or PC? What browser are you using? Also, do you have trouble opening the route PDFs?

I'm on a PC running the most recent Mozilla Firefox. The one that did download as a pdf opened and worked great! I love maps, sort of a map junkie.

I just made some "header" changes in the download program which might make a difference. Please let me know.
Thanks

that looks like it worked. I went in to about 10 of them and they all brought up a pdf to download.

Thanks!

I just finished adding all of the QUAD maps adjacent to each 14er summit. In the routes descriptions, click on the quad maps link (shown at the top of this thread) to show a pop-up with the main quad and all surrounding quads. Clicking on the map links will download USGS quad maps in PDF format.
