On a day when there were great triumphs on 14ers, an event of such sorrow occurs. May the fallen climber rest in peace and may his friends and family be comforted.

As much as I absolutely love Colorado and climbing the mountains here, this is the one part of it all that I hate...hearing news like this. I wish the family and friends of this individual the best, whatever that is, and hope you all find peace. RIP...

Re: Climber Deceased on North Maroon Today.
My prayers are with the climber and his family. I'm hiking Evans tomorrow, and will take a moment to remember our fallen brother from the top.
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know. - Rene Daumal

I hate stories like this. It does seem like we're heard it way too much this summer. May this gentleman have peace, and may his family know the comfort of his passing happening while he was doing something he loved....

Slow moving story - has to be a problem with either identification or notification of family.
