Lake City 13ers October 5-7

Postby Brian Thomas » Mon Sep 10, 2012 11:59 am

Possible peak itinerary to include some or all of: Half Peak, Jones Mountain, Niagara Peak, American Peak, UN 13,811, and UN 13,832. Any interest in these?

Note that this same weekend last year the Sangres got almost 2 feet of snow, which sadly soured the planned Sangres 13ers gathering. If San Juans subject to similar conditions on these dates, will not be making the trip.

Potential participants please post or pm.

* edited to change dates and add Stewart Peak for Monday 10/8

I could be interested in this. I want to get to Stewart/Baldy/Organ that weekend but could do a day in Lake City as well.

Thread bump.

There is some snow forecast for the Handies Peak area this week but not much accumulation.

Change it to October 13th and I'll go do some Centennials with you, sir. I have 13,832 and 13,811 but I need the rest.

I have Monday the 8th off for Columbus Day so would like to make this a three day trip. And I'm busy weekend of 13-14th. Thank you for your attempted participation, sir.

The first 10 days was miserable but have felt significant improvement in the last 6 days. Natalie, are you a potential participant for these? I need to check more boxes on my 13ers checklist, and possibly solicit some external validation by putting up a trip report about it.

I really wish I could go, but I am totally out of vacation days this year already. ](*,) I will have to work that Monday so I can swap it for Friday after T-giving. Glad to hear your ankle is doing better. It opens a realm of possibilities :)

Sounds like a good time. Wish I could go too.

You should know that cell coverage is spotty at best up there even from the summits. It's going to be tough to update your peak list from up there. Don't get frustrated though. Maybe bring a couple of different phones from different carriers, and you should get it done.

I may be making that trip next year with ChrisinAZ to get Summit, Bennett, Conejos.

My plan is to hit the Lake City peaks on Fri-Sat-Sun with no preference as to which peak on what day, but I may not have phone or internet after Thursday evening. Doing Stewart Peak on Monday since the route (from Nutras Creek) is the shortest and can back to Dumver at a reasonable hour after that.
