Poles on Bierstadt

Postby BenfromtheEast » Thu Aug 30, 2012 10:33 pm

My hiking poles are near the summit of Bierstadt. I was sitting on top of the nub that's northwest of the summit this morning under patchy clouds and just a tiny bit of precipitation. When I felt a buzz on my head, I threw them about 15 feet in the general direction of west, grabbed my pack, and went after them. When I felt a second buzz, I left them there. Conditions deteriorated rapidly as I descended.

In order to see them, you'd probably have to descend a little bit from the top of the nub, but they'd be hard to miss if you did that. I'll be out of town for the weekend, leaving first thing tomorrow. If anyone's going up there and wants a to have a peek, I'd gladly offer a case of beer (or equivalent) for them. Otherwise, I'll head back up next week and look for myself. I just don't expect them to make it through the holiday weekend. If that's what I deserve, then so be it. :)

Thanks for reading!

I hope they will not be left up there for 8 days. Yeah...went there.

Glad you are safe Ben. Deeply touched by your post earlier and thinking of you and wishing you strength. I hope those poles make their way back to you.

Thank you. The support of friends and family has made the last few days almost bearable. I try to tell myself the buzzing was just Rob saying hi. He needed new poles anyway.

We're going up tomorrow morning and will keep an eye out... If they are still up there we will find them.

I think I want a case of Odell's Elephant IPA ; )

I'm going with Raman. If I find them, a case of PBR works. I'm a cheap date
