Seven year old grandson summits Bierstadt

Postby geezer » Mon Aug 20, 2012 10:10 pm

As a proud grandfather, just wanted to brag on my seven year old grandson, Luke. For quite awhile he has been wanting to summit a 14er. Finally his mom (my daughter) and dad decided to let him try Bierstadt. On Sunday I accompanied them on his successful attempt. We were blessed with a beautiful Colorado day. Throughout the hike he was smiling and was determined to make it to the top; which he did in about 3.5 hours. He never wavered from his goal and once on top was so pumped to see this beautiful state from 14,061 feet that he's ready to do another one. As an added plus, we saw a beautiful huge bull moose between the trail and the lake in the willows close to the trailhead. Think that there is another 14ers.com member in the future ! Way to go! You should be proud. My son's first 14er was Bierstadt at 7!

I thought we were against summit signs????

kidding... LOVE the pic, bummed my own son won't get his first 14 until he's at least 8, but he also lives down here with the rest of us mere mortals...

heck, I'll be a week shy of 34 when I finally get my first!

Congrats! I enjoy hearing these younger kids doing this. My 8 year old daughter has been begging me to take her up a 14er for the past year. Hope to make that dream come true in the next couple years!
